03. THE FIRST GLANCE
The Moment It Captures You
In the red of a ruby, there is a moment when light takes on heat.
Deep red, red tinged with violet, red that holds the morning light. A color that reaches straight to the heart of the viewer, less a gem than a small flame burning on within.
The moment it is worn, color is born on the skin and trembles with every gesture. Even in a quiet outfit, a ruby gives off a sure presence.
That red awakens the memory of love, the pulse of life, and courage for a future not yet seen.
A ruby is a gem like the passion lit deep in the heart, made into a single grain of light.
04. BORN FROM EARTH
A Miracle Born of the Earth
Ruby is a crystal of the mineral corundum, colored red by a trace of chromium. While corundum is born almost colorless, a slight difference in elements creates a world of deep red.
Rubies from around the world, from Myanmar, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Mozambique and elsewhere, each carry a different geological story. Among them, the Mogok region of Myanmar has long been known as a source of fine rubies.
Rubies born in marble involve traces of creatures that once lived in the sea. Sediment from an ancient sea became limestone, then, under the heat and pressure of crustal movement, marble. In that long transformation, aluminum and chromium joined, and a red crystal grew.
A rock that holds the memory of the sea, shaped by the force of mountains, becomes in time a single red gem.
Ruby is the color of passion, drawn by the earth over hundreds of millions of years.
05. MYTH & COSMOS
Myth & Stars
In ancient India, ruby was called the "king of gems." Its rarity, hardness, beauty, and a red that recalls the force of life are said to have bound it to royal dignity.
Its red has been compared to blood and sunlight, and for ages has drawn people's hearts as a symbol of strength, life, and youthful energy.
In Myanmar, there was a tradition that a ruby entering a warrior's body gave strength in battle. In medieval Europe, there was an age when it was believed to heal illnesses of the blood and inflammation. These tales, nurtured within each culture, add color to the history of ruby.
In Jyotish, ruby is linked to the Sun, Surya. The Sun is the source of life, a presence that symbolizes light, will, pride, and kingly power.
Existing materials note correspondences with Sunday, the ring finger, and gold. This is a traditional correspondence based on materials held by the brand. Methods of wearing and metals differ from school to school, so we present it as a cultural and astrological symbol.
A ruby burning red in the light of the sun.
Its brilliance gently delivers the power of the sun in the sky to the inside of the wearer.
The will to walk one's own path, the strength to protect what one loves, the pride that rises from deep in the chest.
The red of ruby turns the light of life that the sun gives into a single grain of passion.
06. THE BEAUTY WITHIN
One Stone, One Character
The red of a ruby holds many expressions within a single color.
Vivid scarlet, deep wine, red tinged with violet, red that grows bright as if burning in the light. The amount of chromium, the iron content, and the environment in which the crystal grew change the hue of each stone.
Some stones hold fine lines and small crystals within. They are quiet memories, telling of the place and time in which the ruby was born.
Meet the light, and a soft glow returns from deep within the red. Change the angle, and a fierce, flame-like strength turns to the tenderness of a petal.
Every ruby has a warmth that belongs to that stone alone.
The red the heart chooses resonates with the beauty within the wearer, and deepens, little by little, through the days.
07. ARTIST'S NOTE
Through the Eyes of MEGUMI HARUNA
Ruby seems to have the power to brighten even the feelings of the one who wears it.
Red is a very strong impression. And yet the red of ruby has a delicate wavering somewhere in it. Each time it meets the light, passion, tenderness, strength, and stillness appear in changing expressions.
I see ruby as a reflection of the beauty that lives within women.
There are days it shines for someone else, and days it lights the heart for oneself. I think a small stone receives the memories and wishes of the one who wears it, and grows into a red that is theirs alone.
The heart knows what is beautiful.
Ruby is a gem that quietly reminds us of the passion in our hearts.
